Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, president, Chairman of the Central Military Commission and director of the Financial and Economic Commission of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the 11th meeting of the Financial and Economic Commission of the CPC Central Committee on April 26 to study comprehensively strengthening infrastructure development and the implementation of the decisions and plans made at the commission's meetings since the 19th CPC National Congress. It was pointed out at the meeting that efforts should be made to accelerate the construction of the main framework of the national comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network, strengthen the planning and construction of coastal and inland river ports and waterways, and optimize and upgrade the national water transportation network.

Efforts should be made to improve the efficiency of network infrastructure, including transportation, energy and water conservancy, with networking, reinforcing networks and strengthening chains as the focus of construction, the meeting said. We will accelerate the building of the backbone of a comprehensive national transport network, strengthen planning and development of coastal and inland waterways, ports and waterways, and improve the national water transport network. We will accelerate the building of the backbone and arteries of the national water network, and promote the development and modernization of key water sources, irrigation areas, and flood storage and detention areas. We will strengthen infrastructure development to upgrade the information, science and technology, logistics and other industries, strengthen the development of comprehensive transportation hubs and distribution and distribution systems, and develop a number of regional airports, general purpose airports and cargo airports. We should strengthen the development of urban infrastructure, promote the integration of transportation in city clusters, build convenient and efficient intercity railway networks, develop municipal (suburban) railways and urban rail transit, promote the development of a comprehensive urban road transportation system, and strengthen the development of smart infrastructure such as smart roads, smart power sources and smart buses. We should strengthen agricultural and rural infrastructure development, steadily promote the construction of "four good rural roads", improve the rural transportation system, speed up the construction of urban and rural cold chain logistics facilities, and promote agricultural and rural modernization through the modernization of infrastructure.

The meeting stressed comprehensively strengthening infrastructure construction and building a modern infrastructure system to lay a solid foundation for comprehensively building a modern socialist country.
