The meeting pointed out that in 2024, the maritime system will deeply grasp the "five main characteristics" of maritime work, lead the overall jump with "five key breakthroughs", create a new pattern of maritime modernization development and reach a new level, and strongly support the acceleration of the construction of a transportation power. We ensured the safe passage of 30.2 million ships, 17.5 billion tons of cargo, 280 million standard containers and 520 million passengers. The number of water traffic accidents above general grade, the number of dead and missing, the number of sunken vessels and economic losses decreased by 25.3%, 18.4%, 37.5% and 27.8%, respectively. Together with search and rescue centers at all levels, China organized and coordinated 1,410 maritime search and rescue operations, rescuing 769 ships and 7,756 people in distress, with a success rate of 96 percent.
