Ports are basic and pivotal facilities and important support for economic development. In recent years, the Ministry of Transport, guided by the "Program for Building a Powerful Transport Country" and the Outline of the National Comprehensive Three-dimensional Transport Network Planning, has strengthened the linkage between the ministry and the province, and jointly promoted the coordinated development of the port clusters around the Bohai Sea, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, so as to enhance the overall competitiveness of China's world-class port clusters. In order to promote the economic development of the port and ensure the navigation safety of ships entering and leaving the port, on November 22, the Maritime Safety Administration of the Ministry of Transport officially issued the "China Coastal Port Entry Guide (South China Sea Area)" and "China Coastal Port Entry Guide (Northern Sea Area)".

The "China Coastal Approach Guide (South China Sea Area)" and "China Coastal Approach Guide (North China Sea Area)" issued this time comprehensively, systematically and in detail introduce four categories of content, including port information, wharf and channel navigation, captain's advice, and typical dock berths 'berth and berth precautions, in the form of graphic combination. Involving the latest chart, navigation management, pilotage, special navigation requirements and regional natural environment and other information, combined with the actual navigation, targeted sailing suggestions and precautions are put forward, which can provide accurate and reliable "navigation guideline" for ships entering and leaving 42 ports and 141 port areas such as Tangshan Port, Qingdao Port and Guangzhou Port. It greatly improves the current situation and practicability of the guide, and provides necessary guidance and reference for ships sailing in China's coastal areas to enter and leave the ports in the North Sea area and the South China Sea area.

The "China Coastal Port Access Guide" contains three volumes of the Northern Sea area, the East China Sea Area and the South China Sea Area, among which the "China Coastal Port Access Guide (East China Sea Area)" has been officially issued in February 2021, and the three guides have achieved "full coverage" of China's coastal areas. At the same time, as an important navigation reference item in China's coastal areas, the publication of the "Port Entry Guide" has further enriched the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" sequence navigation guide. In the next step, the Maritime Safety Administration of the Ministry of Transport will update and improve the sequential navigation guidelines in a timely manner to provide navigational safety references for passing ships and make China's contribution to the economic integration and development of countries along the "Sea Silk Line".
