China has been re-elected as a member of the Council of the International Hydrographic Organization
The third General Assembly of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) was held at the IHO headquarters in Monaco from May 1 to 5. About 500 delegates and observers from 79 IHO member states, the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and other relevant international organizations attended the Congress. Sun Youheng, first level Inspector of Maritime Safety Administration of Ministry of Transport, led the Chinese delegation to attend the conference.
The General Assembly elected members of the IHO Council for 2023-2026, and my country was successfully re-elected. At the same time, the new management of IHO was elected by the General Assembly. Jonas Massaeus (Germany) was re-elected as Secretary-General. In addition, the Conference adopted a series of resolutions related to the S-100 series of standards, technological innovations such as capacity building and balanced global development.
An exhibition on "Mapping the Marine Environment in the Context of the Decade of Oceans" and an industrial exhibition were held at the same time. China participated in the exhibition of the member states, and demonstrated its innovation and scientific and technological strength in the field of maritime surveying and mapping in recent years by means of exhibition panels, kind and multimedia, especially the large surveying ship "Haixun 08", ocean spatial data infrastructure (MSDI) platform, "Haihang" APP and other cutting-edge scientific and technological products of Marine surveying and mapping and navigation services. It aroused wide interest and attention of the attendees. Prince Albert II of Monaco visited our booth, got a detailed understanding of the development achievements in hydrographic surveying and mapping, and took a group photo with our delegation.
